This workshop introduces and explores the concept of the Elemental Cycle as a generative, creative framework for understanding the cosmos and our place within it. Drawing on cross-cultural cosmologies, we will engage with the elements not merely as symbolic categories, but as dynamic forces participating in an ongoing, cyclical process of creation and transformation.
The Elemental Cycle can be understood as a cosmogram—a symbolic map or glyph that narrates the fundamental patterns and cycles of existence. These cosmograms are inherently present in diverse cultural traditions; they offer a way of making sense of lived experience and locating oneself meaningfully within the greater phenomenological experience of being alive.
The framework we will explore is rooted in the recognition that the Elemental Cycle is inherently generative. It is not a static model, but a living, evolving process that invites conscious participation. Through practice, contemplation, and experiential exercises, participants will learn how to engage creatively with these elemental forces—moving beyond intellectual understanding towards participatory knowing.

In this way, the Elemental Cycle functions as both an ontological map and a methodology for practice. It supports an attunement to the underlying patterns of life and cultivates an awareness of one’s own creative agency within the web of existence. Ultimately, the workshop offers a space to inhabit and embody a worldview in which the cosmos is relational, alive, and responsive.
